A certain package from a certain benefactor in the fine state of Rhode Island arrived today and I am in a state of 1979-induced bliss. Yes, that's right, it's the '79 Road Trips collection. And, yes, that's right, I had not yet obtained it being somewhat reluctant to fork over the green for stuff I already had. Well, the quality of this collection is outstanding and the mixing is done very well to make it have the feel of one long, extended show. I couldn't be more grateful for the discs and I am in your ( for potential legally binding reasons I will leave the naming of this outstanding individual up to himself) debt. Again, many thanks and GO PATS!.

Rabble rouser.

Do we actually qualify as a "rabble"? And what constitutes being "roused"? These are questions that demand answers.

Man, just when things were cooling out around here. Sounds like a great listen, and very glad you're digging it, SDH. I'll have to dig up a copy for myself.

"Policeman stopped me in my tracks
Said "Hey you, you can't tape that
You're under arrest 'cause it's illegal"
So I shoved him off and blew his whistle
I'm a pirate and I keep my loot
So I blew him out with my bazooka"

- BowWowWow, from waaayyyy back in the early eighties when cassettes were predicted to be the downfall of the recording industry. And VHS was going to close the theatres. Oh, you young whipper-snappers wouldn't remember. . . . .

I don't know many heads who have never purchased a Dead boot or illegally copied a few tunes or even an l.p. on cassette for someone else. And, as to SDH, it isn't a question of ten hole punches and you get a free sub--it is the overall integrity of those involved. In the larger picture, copying the Road Trip cd is pretty minimal.

But, having said that, I'm not sure how wise it is to post this on a forum that bends over backward--often with teeth bared--to prevent others from learning how to download off the archives. This might inadvertently send the wrong message.

That having been said, I sentence SDH to making ten more copies and sending one my way!

It was clear in your first post that you knew just what you had done.

JMM's (aka Throwin Stones) post was nothing less than inflammatory.

Still don't understand how my post was inflammatory (or deserved the ad hominem attacks that it drew.) My guess is that you two and the direwolf are very young.
Taping copyright material (and selling audience or soundboard tapes) is taboo. To then brag about it (which is how I took your statement regarding a need to maintain the secrecy of the sender's identity,) I think, is in poor taste.

What stone have I thrown? What statement is not true?

i am not exactly young, but thanks for the compliment.

i simply take my age, divide by four, and arrive at my maturity level. So that would make it...... errrrr.....ummmmm.... damn, i'm too young to know division.

Matter of fact. It is not illegal to tape or copy copyrighted materials for personal use. In this instance, the personal use would be defined as a "gift." No harm, no foul, and Boby's kids will probably still make it through college.

according to --U.S.-- law:

I'm not positive.. but I believe the copyright holder "owns" the rights to the material and can specify how it can be used, whether it can be freely distributed or not.

It is TRUE however, that according to U.S. copyright law, someone who purchases the material is allowed to make a *backup* copy for their own personal use.

There is ALSO another U.S. law which says it is illegal to circumvent copy protection.

Yes... paraphrasing Mark Twain: U.S. Congress is breeding ground for jackasses.

Have you searched "50 cent" "microsoft" or "black eyed peas lately"? Of just click items with keywords like "asdf" and "jkl;", you have a 1 in three chance of either bootleg music and software, porn or terror snuff training seminars. Now the cops could go for everyone with a roach in their ashtray or a dusty white nostril, or they can focus on the guy with half acre crop and the Kalashnikov stash.

My girlfriend gets cd's on amazon for 99 cents plus shipping. That is basically giving the orginal away for free. I am interested in finding out if those bastards backed it up first.

I am starting to lose respect for most of today's artists anyway. Like splitny spears and curt nobrain who despite havign the ways and means to most effectively address all medical, emotional, psyhological, legal, financial and bordedom problems adequately. They say money can't buy happiness... bullshit.

Everyone of my problems could be solved with more cash, period.

Cash equals health care, counseling, therapy and better quality healthy food. All of this would help you immensely in the physical department.

Cash equals lawyers, fines, court costs, research and a limo to drive you home when your drunk... Anyone with a million dollars and legal issues is a moron.

Cash equals vacations, gifts, massive plasma tv's, 48 tracks digital automated mixers, the latest tech gear at a whim, world traveling, and lots of other activities that might have a slight inclination to make you less stressed, happier and feeling fulfilled that you are living life.

Cash equals the ability to go get a phd, to donate a million to cancer research center, to publish a book, make a movie, sell a gold record and become an icon or at least esteemed enough so that only a retard would say they didn't accomplish anything on their death bed.

If your sterile, you can pay for treatment and have kids, or adopt, or buy from china recall infant list.

If your blind you can pay 4 people to look in all directsion adn constantly describe the surroundings in poetic prose. Or get ocular implants or webcam usb port in your head.

If you are stricken with a disease that even money cannot cure, you can still throw a massive ass party and travel to ireland on a whim and live up your last days, but at that point suicide would be redundant. Which brings me to the suicide part... why on earth if you had the ways and means to adress every problem with infinite more ability, would you blow your brains out? I mean you do know we are all dying anyway, right? What if you are wrong? Can't hit undo, even on a mac.

Lazy Town "You are a Pirate" -

[Intro - Robbie Rotten] Haha, Let's go! All aboard,
Hahaha! Come aboard, Children & Buccaneers!

[Robbie]
Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!

[Chorus - ALL]
Yarr har fiddle dee dee
Being a pirate is alright with me,
Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!

[Robbie]
You are a Pirate! (Yay!)

We've got us a map (A map!)
To lead us to a hidden box
It's all locked up with locks (with Locks!)
And buried deep away.

We'll dig up the box (the box!)
We know it's full of precious booty,
Burst open the locks!

[ALL]
And then we'll sing hooray!

[Stephanie's Chorus]
Yarr har fiddle dee dee,
If you love to sail the sea,
You are a pirate!

[Robbie]
Weigh anchor!

[ALL]
Yarr har fiddle dee dee
Being a pirate is alright with me!
Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!

Arr yarr, ahoy and avast
Dig a deep dig and you're digging too fast!

[Robbie]
Hang the black flag at the end of the mast!

[ALL]
You are a pirate! Hahahahah (Yay!)

[Robbie]
We're sailing away (Set Sail!)
Adventure waits on every shore,
We set sail and explore (Yarr Har!)
and run and jump all day (Yeah!)
We float in our boat (The Boat!)
Until it's time to drop the anchor,
Then hang up our coats (Aye, Aye!)
Until we sail again!

[Stephanie's Chorus]

[Robbie]
(Record Scratching)
Hey, look!
Land Ho!

[Chorus - All]

[Robbie]
Yarr har! Wind's at your back lads wherever you go!

[ALL]
Blue sky above and blue ocean below!
You are a pirate!

[Robbie]
Ha ha ha ha!
You are a pirate!
Heh heh heh heh.

You've never copied a cd for a friend?

I did not make the cd's in question, but I have sent volumes of music to my ever-deserving family.

If you'd like to send the copyright police to my door, feel free.

You probably ALWAYS drive the speed limit too. Good for you.

You should change your name to Throwin Stones.

That person didn't announce a sin, adding insult to injury to our musical benefactors on this and other internet download playlands.

The person who did the rip-off could have just plugged the CDs and left it at that.

I heard the FBI is looking into the horror that was recording albums onto cassettes for personal use or even worse, giving your friend a copy. Alledgedly this hedonistic act occured all throughout the not so innocent 70's. You couldn't trust anyone to just borrow your vinyl, it was a lusty blood bath out there on the streets with the pirates everywhere.

This murderous practice occured all through the 80's with cassettes. Some illegal stereo manufactures even aided this blasphemy by making double cassette decks. What, other than evil and bile tyranny, could those evil contraptions have been used for?

If you are not standing on 42nd street with a shopping cart full of phony copies selling them, they will probably kill you anyway, black ops, crazy shit man.

Don't forget those 'high speed' dubbing boomboxes!!!

When I got my hands on one of those babies it was all over - copies in half the time on those high end 'metal' 90 minute tapes!!!

The good old days!!!

Then my Sony walkman would go and eat the tape!!!
